Through initiative of the VDW-Nachwuchsstiftung (foundation for education of junior staff),
a practice-oriented edjucation for teachers of technical colleges from the administrative
district of Detmold took place in the Pokolm-academy in Harsewinkel on January 26th and 27th, 2010.

The company Pokolm-Frästechnik develops and produces most modern milling cut-ters for the industries of die-and mould-making as well as for 2.5- and 2-D-milling-operations. Altogether, Pokolm designs new milling strategies for a more efficient process management in milling technologies, permanently. Pokolm offers a subject-specific expert service for customers, who are facing problems in milling and Pokolm is going to support these customers with individual problem-solving solutions. This particularly dedicated support and promotion of this career training is a special con-cern for the persons responsible from the company Pokolm.
For these reasons, between the representatives of the VDW-Nachwuchsstiftung (foundation for education of junior staff), the administration of the district of Detmold and Martin Deipenwisch from Pokolm, a specific two-days seminar for the subject: "milling strategies" for teachers of technical colleges was scheduled and now real-ized.
Ten teachers of technical colleges, which are acting in the field of computerized mill-ing technologies were participating in this education. All teachers of technical col-leges from the administrative district of Detmold, who have founded a study group for "computerized production" under the roof of the VDW-Nachwuchsstiftung (foundation for education of junior staff) had beed invited. There, current subjects from the field of milling technologies and it's implementation into learning material for teacher's train-ing are getting processed collectively, consolidated and cross-institutional.
After an impressive walk through the production area of most modern and high-
precision tooling, the subject of "milling strategies" had been discussed
comprehensively by demonstration of specific problems of some 3-D-milling-subjects.Initially, this subjects were developed theoretically and immediately after-wards implemented and demonstrated on modern CNC-machining centres.
By using latest tooling, supported by efficient programming systems, appropriate and future-orientated cutting parameters and operation data could be realized.
Relationships between component, tools, programming systems, machines and clamping systems have been discussed extensively and utilized in practice.
Comprehensive documentation in form of film pieces, information about milling strategies and operation data, technical questionaires and test reports had been pro-vided for the participants (also in digital formats), for education usage.
Furthermore, the participants got to know about a world`s-first developed tooling-system with rotating inserts, descriptively and in use.
This education was designed as a pilot-project and is going to be offered also to teachers and instructors of other regions.
